    Description

Your students have a basic understanding of what text evidence is but are struggling to incorporate it into their writing. The RACES strategy is designed to guide students through the process of answering a constructive response prompt. (or text-based prompts)

This resource is equipped with Text Evidence Discussion Bubbles which are perfect for small groups, whole-group discussions, teacher-led centers, or even online learning! These sentence starters encourage students to speak about the text.

Here’s ONE way to use Evidence Bubbles:

Glue the discussion bubbles onto popsicle sticks. During the whole-group reading block, students are encouraged to use these evidence sticks to comment on different sections of the text. While reading, pause and ask open-ended questions to lead discussions. Students can choose a stick from their caddy, raise it in the air, and answer the question using the sentence starter on their stick. The idea of having a fun prop to hold up makes teaching text evidence 10x more exciting and engaging for students.
